Shadows of Time is a personal reflection of the artist's affinity with Japan, on the social changes observed and on the rich traditions of this ancient culture. 

As one who speaks and reads the language but is still an "outsider" (gaijin or outside person), she has peered through the shohi screens and observed the "inside" while reflecting on her own culture and values.
